California Victim Compensation Board (Los Angeles County Superior Court Case Nos. BS170608 and 21STCP03535).(4) The sum of two million seven hundred twenty-four thousand dollars ($2,724,000) for the payment of claims, settlements, or judgments against the state arising from California Water Curtailment Cases (Santa Clara County Superior Court Case No. 1-15-CV-285182; JCCP 4838). This amount shall be deposited into the State Treasurers Special Deposit Fund. The State Controller may issue a separate warrant to eligible claimants as directed by the Department of Justice.(5) The sum of one million five hundred seventy-seven thousand dollars ($1,577,000) for the payment of claims, settlements, or judgments against the state arising from Welchen v. Bonta, et al. (United States District Court, Eastern District of California, No. 2:16-cv-00185-TLN-DB).(b) Any funds appropriated in excess of the amounts actually required for the payment of these claims, settlements, or judgments shall revert to the General Fund within 45 days after final payment is made. This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the California Constitution and shall go into immediate effect.
