The bill repeals the repeal date for the existing school leadership pilot program and removes the word "pilot" from the name of the program. Dashes through the words indicate deletions from existing statute. SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 22-13-202, amend1 (3) as follows:2 22-13-202. Definitions. As used in this part 2, unless the context3 otherwise requires:4 (3) "Program" means the school leadership pilot program created5 in section 22-13-203.6 SECTION 2. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 22-13-203, amend7 (1) as follows:8 22-13-203. School leadership program - created - participation9 - rules. (1) There is created in the department of education the school10 leadership pilot program to provide embedded, experiential professional11 development to improve the quality of school principals and empower12 them to exercise distributive and collaborative leadership that supports13 collaboration among the professional educators in the school building.14 The purpose of the program is to increase educator retention, improve15 school climate and culture, and improve student academic outcomes by16 improving the quality of leadership in public schools. The program must17 include identification of high-quality school principals and the18 opportunity for other school principals from school districts throughout19 the state to observe and interact with the identified high-quality school20 principals and to receive professional development in leadership skills to21 learn the critical practices of the high-quality school principals in22 successful public schools.23 SECTION 3. In Colorado Revised Statutes, repeal 22-13-205 as24 follows:25 22-13-205. Repeal of part. This part 2 is repealed, effective July26 1, 2022.27 HB22-1248 -2- SECTION 4. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds,1 determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate2 preservation of the public peace, health, or safety.3 HB22-1248 -3-
