25+Colorado Youth Advisory Council Committee. The bill
26+establishes the office of disordered eating prevention (office) in the
27+department of public health and environment (department).

50+! Create and maintain a resource bank for research,
51+intervention methods, treatment resources, information on
52+crisis services, awareness programs, and educational
53+resources regarding disordered eating prevention and care
54+in Colorado;
55+! Collaborate with the office of suicide prevention, the
56+behavioral health administration, and organizations within
57+the health-care industry to close gaps in care and provide
58+support to individuals with disordered eating who transition
59+out of inpatient care, facilitate public outreach, and
60+increase awareness regarding disordered eating prevention
61+and care with a focus on impacted communities, such as
62+youth, people of color, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
63+transgender individuals;
64+! Create outreach resources directing youth on how to seek
65+care for disordered eating and how to report concerns for
66+other youth, with a focus on impacted communities, such
67+as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth and youth
68+of color;
69+! Partner with the department of education to inform
70+teachers, administrators, school staff, students, and parents
71+on disordered eating preventions and treatment for youth;
72+! Collaborate with advocacy groups, including faith-based
73+organizations, to support a shift in public perception
74+regarding health-care systems and disordered eating
75+treatment and prevention;
76+! Coordinate the disordered eating prevention research grant
77+program; and
78+! Prepare written information for primary care offices and
79+providers throughout the state. The information must be
80+culturally specific concerning how to recognize and
81+respond to a patient with disordered eating and include
82+separate written information for providers and information
83+that may be shared with an adult patient or a youth patient
84+and the caregivers of the youth patient.
85+The bill creates the disordered eating prevention commission
86+(commission) in the department. The commission will have 17 members
87+with professional or personal connections to disordered eating prevention.
88+The purpose of the commission is to:
89+! Provide public and private leadership on disordered eating
90+prevention in Colorado;
91+! Set statewide, data-driven, evidence-based, and clinically
92+informed priorities for disordered eating prevention in
93+Colorado;

95+-2- ! Serve as the advisor to the office of disordered eating
96+prevention;
97+! Establish and lead subgroups to set strategy and
98+implementation plans for the office;
99+! Provide a forum for government agencies, community
100+members, and lawmakers to examine the current status of
101+disordered eating prevention policies;
102+! Provide a voice for youth and focus on youth issues;
103+! Provide a forum for diverse perspectives to support and
104+inform diverse communities; and
105+! Provide a forum for perspectives from rural communities
106+to support and inform rural communities.
107+The bill creates the disordered eating prevention research grant
108+program (grant program) in the department. The purpose of the grant
109+program is to provide financial assistance to eligible applicants to conduct
110+research on risk factors for disordered eating, the impact disordered
111+eating has on Colorado, or public health interventions that examine and
112+address the root causes of disordered eating.
