Peery of the El Paso County S.O. and Dillon M.16 Vakoff of the Arvada P.D.;17 In 2023: Julian Becerra of the Fountain P.D.; and18 WHEREAS, It is fitting and appropriate for the citizens of19 Colorado to join together in commemorating peace officers, past and20 present, who by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities21 have rendered a dedicated service to their community and, in doing so,22 have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for23 preserving the rights and security of all citizens; now, therefore,24 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Seventy-third General25 Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives26 concurring herein:27 (1) That we, the members of the General Assembly, hereby28 proclaim the week commencing May 12, 2023, as Police Week in29 Colorado, in recognition of peace officers' efforts in safeguarding the30 citizens of Colorado, and call upon all citizens of the state and upon all31 patriotic, civic, and educational organizations to observe Police Week;32 and33 008 -12- (2) That we hereby proclaim the day of May 15, 2023, as Peace1 Officers' Memorial Day in recognition of those officers who, through2 their courageous deeds, have made the supreme sacrifice or who have3 been disabled in the line of duty, and call upon the citizens of Colorado4 to recognize and participate in the observance of this worthy occasion.5 Be It Further Resolved, That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent6 to Jared Polis, Governor of Colorado; Robert Cook, President of the7 Colorado Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.; Dianne8 Bernhard, Executive Director of Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.;9 Major Barry Bratt, Chairman of the Colorado Law Enforcement10 Memorial; Stephen Schulz, State President of the Fraternal Order of11 Police, Colorado State Lodge; Tyson Worrell, President of the Denver12 Police Protective Association; Paul Frey, President of the Colorado Police13 Protective Association; Colonel Matthew C.
