ONCERNING THE DESIGNATION OF COLORADO 4-H DAY.101
WHEREAS, The Colorado 4-H Youth Development program is1
founded on the notion that youth are a vital resource for ensuring a better2
tomorrow, and assisting youth as they prepare for the future is the 4-H3
program's central mission; and4
WHEREAS, The Colorado 4-H program is an integral part of5
Colorado State University Extension and is fundamental to the land-grant6
university mission; and7
WHEREAS, Participation in 4-H in Colorado is open to youth8
between the ages of 5 and 19 from all economic, social, and cultural9
backgrounds; and10
WHEREAS, More than 107,000 Colorado youth, with the11

contribute to their communities and gain practical experience in career2
exploration through their 4-H projects and activities; and3
WHEREAS, 4-H grows young people who have essential life4
skills like confidence, courage, resilience, and curiosity and who are5
empowered and prepared for life today and tomorrow; and6
WHEREAS, Compared to their peers, youth involved in 4-H7
programs are:8
! Four times more likely to make contributions to their9
communities; and10
! Two times more likely to be civically engaged, to make11
healthier choices, and to participate in after-school STEM12
programs; now, therefore,13
Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventy-fifth14
General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:15
(1)  That the General Assembly salutes the Colorado 4-H program,16
in partnership with Colorado State University Extension, in its efforts to17
prepare Colorado's youth for the future by providing a wealth of18
opportunities for young people to acquire decision-making, leadership,19
and communication skills in a hands-on, friendly learning environment;20
(2)  That the General Assembly encourages young people in21
Colorado to get a head start in life by participating in 4-H activities; and22
(3)  That the General Assembly hereby declares Monday, January23
27, 2025, to be "Colorado 4-H Day" in recognition of the 4-H program's24
efforts on behalf of Colorado's youth.25
Be It Further Resolved, That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent26
to Governor Jared Polis and Colorado's Commissioner of Agriculture,27
Kate Greenberg.28
