1515 WHEREAS, Colorado has a proud and distinguished history of1
1616 dedicated military service by men and women whose courage, heroism,2
1717 and sacrifice preserve the liberties and democratic way of life set forth in3
1818 our state and federal constitutions; and4
1919 WHEREAS, Colorado is home to a significant number of military5
2020 installations, including Fort Carson, the United States Air Force6
2121 Academy, Buckley Space Force Base, Peterson Space Force Base,7
2222 Schriever Space Force Base, and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force8
2323 Station, that contribute not only to the national security of our nation but9
2424 to the economic health of our state; and10

4737 military service of the more than 47,000 men and women in our state who2
4838 serve in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Marine3
4939 Corps, and Coast Guard; the branch Reserves; the Colorado National4
5040 Guard; and the Civil Air Patrol; and5
5141 WHEREAS, The service members of the Colorado National Guard6
5242 have served in defense of our nation and as the first military responders7
5343 in support of civil authorities during domestic emergencies and are8
5444 celebrating their 165th anniversary this year; and9
5545 WHEREAS, In addition to active members of the United States10
5646 Armed Services, Colorado is the proud home of more than 340,00011
5747 military veterans who have served their country long and well and who12
5848 bring great honor and distinction to the state. Colorado is home not only13
5949 to active duty service personnel and veterans but also to the countless14
6050 family members of these service members who display the same15
6151 dedication, courage, and sacrifice; and16
6252 WHEREAS, We should never forget the uncommon sacrifices17
6353 made for us by the service members from Colorado declared missing in18
6454 action or prisoners of war while defending the principles of liberty and19
6555 justice in conflicts around the world; and20
6656 WHEREAS, Disparate and diverse groups of Coloradans, such as21
6757 persons who are African American, Native American, Latino or Latina,22
6858 or Hispanic, in addition to men and women of all backgrounds, are bound23
6959 together in the Armed Services by their selfless dedication to the spirit of24
7060 our nation, the ideals of freedom and democracy, and the cause of25
7161 democracy and stability around the globe; and26
7262 WHEREAS, In this time of conflict, it is particularly appropriate27
7363 to recognize the Coloradans in all branches and components of the Armed28
7464 Services who serve to protect the security and peace of our nation and29
7565 other nations; now, therefore,30
7666 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventy-fifth31
7767 General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:32
7868 (1) That we, the members of the Seventy-fifth General Assembly,33
7969 hereby extend our heartfelt gratitude to our state's veterans, past and34
8070 present, to all members of the military currently serving in the Armed35

8272 -2- Services, and to the family members of active duty personnel and1
8373 veterans, and that we remember and honor prisoners of war and those2
8474 missing in action from previous conflicts;3
8575 (2) That we express our continued partnership with and support4
8676 of Fort Carson and maintain our strong commitment to supporting5
8777 ongoing military training at the Mountain Post; and6
8878 (3) That we encourage the citizens of Colorado to join in the7
8979 celebration of Colorado's Military, Veterans, and POW/MIA8
9080 Appreciation Day, in recognition and honor of the thousands of fellow9
9181 citizens in the military who protect and serve their communities, state,10
9282 and country.11
