ONCERNING MODIFICATION OF THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE STATE PAY A
PORTION OF THE SALARY OF EACH ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 20-1-306, amend (2)
as follows:
20-1-306.  Compensation paid from state and county funds.
(2)  Effective July 1, 2026, the salaries of assistant district attorneys in every
judicial district of the state as set forth in section 20-1-203 must be paid in
twelve equal monthly installments of which the state shall contribute fifty
TWENTY-FIVE percent of the minimum amount required by section 20-1-203
(2) annually, and the county or counties comprising the judicial district shall
contribute the balance, with each county's payment to be in the same
proportion as provided in section 20-1-302.
SECTION 2. Act subject to petition - effective date. This act
takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the expiration of the

that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V

unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in
November 2026 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official
declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.
