The2 Ukrainian people have fought valiantly to defend their homeland over3 these past three years, sacrificing life and limb to expel a vast Russian4 occupation. Currently, more than 200,000 military personnel and civilians5 have given their lives for this noble fight. Dashes through the words or numbers indicate deletions from existing law. damages alone, destroying over 250,000 Ukrainian homes and businesses.1 In frontline towns such as Mariupol, 90% of housing has been2 demolished, while cities such as Bakhmut and Maryinka have seen nearly3 every one of their buildings obliterated by Russia's merciless assaults.4 These developments have driven countless communities into disarray,5 with nearly 15 million Ukrainians, including over 6 million children, in6 current need of humanitarian aid in the midst of another winter; and7 WHEREAS, Ukraine Power, a Colorado Springs-based 501(c)(3)8 nonprofit organization, has worked hard to deliver nearly $400,000 worth9 of supplies to the embattled people of Ukraine over these past three years.10 By providing essential resources such as generators, gas stoves, and11 electronics for youth education, Ukraine Power has helped countless12 Ukrainians weather this turbulent period of their nation's history; now,13 therefore,14 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Seventy-fifth General Assembly15 of the State of Colorado:16 That the Colorado State Senate:17 (1) Commends Ukraine Power for its continued efforts to help the18 Ukrainian people and for its advocacy on behalf of Colorado's sizable19 Ukrainian population;20 (2) In the midst of the ongoing tragedy, stands in support of the21 Ukrainian people, who have courageously defended their homeland from22 an unjust Russian invasion; and23 (3) As the United States, Ukraine, and Russia work to bring this24 disastrous conflict to an end, urges all involved parties to pursue a just,25 sustainable peace that honors the sovereign independence of the26 Ukrainian people and preserves the traditional boundaries of the27 Ukrainian state.28 Be It Further Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to29 Ukraine Power; the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, D.C.; President30 Donald J.
