AN ACT CONCERNING CONSTABLES WHO PERFORM CRIMINAL LAW ENFORCEMENT DUTIES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 54-1f of the general statutes be amended to authorize constables who are certified and perform criminal law enforcement duties to arrest, without warrant, any person who has committed or is committing a felony, that section 54-33a of the general statutes be amended to authorize search warrants to be directed to constables who are certified and perform criminal law enforcement duties and that section 53a-130a of the general statutes be amended to provide that the crime of impersonation of a police officer includes impersonation of a constable who performs criminal law enforcement duties. Statement of Purpose: To grant constables who perform criminal law enforcement duties the same powers with regard to felony arrests and service of search warrants as police officers have, and to add constables to the current offense of impersonating a police officer.
