2424 AN ACT CONCERNING PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR ATTORNEYS.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2012) Not later than January 1, 2013, the Judicial Branch shall amend the form for annual attorney registrations required pursuant to the rules of practice of the Superior Court to permit attorneys to indicate on such form whether they maintain the professional liability insurance described in subdivision (3) of subsection (b) of section 38a-393 of the general statutes. On and after January 1, 2013, each attorney admitted by the Superior Court in accordance with section 51-80 of the general statutes shall indicate on any annual attorney registration form that the attorney is required to submit to the Judicial Branch pursuant to such rules of practice whether such attorney maintains such professional liability insurance. On and after May 1, 2013, the Judicial Branch shall indicate on its Internet web site the insurance status of each attorney that has submitted such form. The Judicial Branch shall annually update such insurance status information.
