CANDELARIA, 95th Dist. REP. HOLDER-WINFIELD, 94th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING AN INCREASED SALES TAX ON FOOD AND BEVERAGES SOLD AT RESTAURANTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 219 of the general statutes be amended to increase the sales tax on food and beverages at restaurants and bars by one per cent, and distribute this increment to municipalities through the municipal revenue sharing account. Statement of Purpose: To establish a luxury tax on dining out to provide revenue diversification for municipalities.
