AN ACT REQUIRING THE TRAINING OF HEALTH CARE EMPLOYEES CONCERNING THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL HIPAA LEGISLATION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 368v of the general statutes be amended to require health care facilities to provide specific training to employees concerning the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) that is in addition to training required under federal regulations. Statement of Purpose: To protect patients' confidential health information.
