MILLER P., 145th Dist. REP. HOLDER-WINFIELD, 94th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING REVISIONS TO THE LITERACY COMPONENTS OF THE EDUCATION REFORM ACT OF 2012. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 10-14t of the general statutes be amended to delay the start of the use of reading assessments to identify students in kindergarten to grade three, inclusive, who are below proficiency in reading to begin in the school year commencing July 1, 2014. To further amend section 10-14v of the general statutes to extend the date to January 1, 2014, in which the Department of Education shall develop a coordinated state-wide reading plan so that the pilot study, conducted pursuant to section 5 of public act 11-85, as amended by section 4 of public act 12-116, can assist in informing in the development of such plan. Statement of Purpose: To make revisions to the literacy components of the education reform act of 2012 to delay the implementation of certain provisions and to clarify the reading test requirements under the law.
