AN ACT ALLOWING MUNICIPALITIES TO OPERATE AUTOMATED TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT SAFETY DEVICES AT INTERSECTIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to allow any municipality with a population greater than thirty thousand, upon approval of such municipality's chief executive officer and legislative body, to authorize the use of automated traffic enforcement safety devices to enforce the provisions of section 14-299 of the general statutes, concerning traffic control signals, at intersections within such municipality.

Statement of Purpose: 

To allow municipalities to operate automated traffic enforcement safety devices in accordance with the provisions of Senate Bill number 706, LCO number 4808, from the 2011 January Session.
