AN ACT RESTORING THE SALES TAX EXEMPTION FOR CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 12-412 of the 2014 supplement to the general statutes be amended to restore the clothing and footwear tax exemption as of April 1, 2014. One hundred sixty-seven million six hundred thousand dollars of the state's excess revenue shall be dedicated to pay for restoring the exemption.

Statement of Purpose: 

To provide tax relief for those items that are essential to our residents' everyday lives.
