AN ACT BANNING THE SALE OF ELEPHANT IVORY AND RHINOCEROS HORNS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to ban the sale of elephant ivory and rhinoceros horns and to require the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to establish a permit system that authorizes the sale of certain ivory or horn products made prior to a particular date. Additionally, such ban would not apply to persons who obtain ivory under federal law or for law enforcement purposes.
Statement of Purpose:
To deter the illegal trade in elephant ivory and rhinoceros horn.
