AN ACT INCREASING THE AMOUNT COMMUNITY SPOUSES MAY RETAIN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Social Services to amend the Medicaid state plan, in accordance with federal law, to increase to fifty thousand dollars the minimum amount that a community spouse of an institutionalized Medicaid recipient may retain.

Statement of Purpose: 

To help spouses of institutionalized Medicaid recipients to live independently by allowing them to retain more resources in accordance with federal law.
