AN ACT CONCERNING NOTIFICATION OF MAGNET SCHOOL ENROLLMENT AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LEGISLATION REGARDING RACIAL MINORITY ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR MAGNET SCHOOLS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That subsection (m) of section 10-264l of the general statutes be amended to require the parent or guardian of a student who will be enrolled in a magnet school or whose name has been placed on a waiting list for a magnet school to notify the local or regional board of education in which such student resides of such enrollment or placement; and further that section 197 of public act 11-48 be amended to push back the date the Department of Education is required to submit recommendations for legislation regarding the racial minority enrollment requirements for magnet schools.
Statement of Purpose:
To require the parent or guardian of a student who will be enrolled in a magnet school or whose name has been placed on a waiting list for a magnet school to notify the school district in which such student resides of such enrollment or placement and to push back the date that the Department of Education is to submit recommendations for legislation regarding racial minority enrollment requirements for magnet schools.
