AN ACT CONCERNING ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 10 of the general statutes be amended to define alternative education, to require the Department of Education to develop guidelines regarding how students enter and exit alternative education, to establish the responsibilities of local and regional boards of education relating to the provision of alternative education, to require the Department of Education to assign an identification code to each alternative education program and to require each alternative education program to annually submit a report to the department about such alternative education program.

Statement of Purpose: 

To improve the efficacy of alternative education and to ensure the success of students enrolled in alternative education.
