AN ACT CONCERNING OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN EXPOSED TO FAMILY VIOLENCE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to enhance penalties for individuals convicted of family violence if the act of family violence was committed within the hearing or vision of a minor who is a family or household member of either the offender or the victim and to establish a task force to evaluate existing policies and procedures utilized by criminal justice and human services providers when responding to children exposed to family violence.

Statement of Purpose: 

To increase penalties for individuals who commit acts of family violence in the presence of minor children and to establish a task force that will evaluate existing policies and procedures and create a state-wide model policy for the provision of services to children exposed to family violence.
