AN ACT CONCERNING APPOINTMENT OF REGISTRARS OF VOTERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Notwithstanding any provision of title 9 of the general statutes, in any municipality where appointment of a registrar of voters is permitted by charter or special act, one nonpartisan registrar of voters may be so appointed. Such appointment shall take effect upon a vacancy in the office of the registrar of voters or when a term of such office expires, whichever occurs sooner.

Statement of Purpose: 

To permit, where authorized by municipal charter or special act, appointment of one registrar of voters upon a vacancy in or expired term of the office.
