1224 AN ACT CONCERNING APPOINTMENT OF REGISTRARS OF VOTERS.

1426 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

16-Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) (a) Notwithstanding any provision of title 9 of the general statutes, (1) in any municipality where the appointment of a registrar of voters is permitted by charter or special act, one nonpartisan registrar of voters may be so appointed, and (2) such appointment shall take effect upon a vacancy in the office of the registrars of voters or when a term of such office expires, whichever occurs first.

18-(b) Any duty or responsibility under the general statutes carried out by the office of the registrars of voters, or by two or more registrars of voters, of a town shall be carried out individually by such registrar appointed under subsection (a) of this section.
