1224 AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO STUDY THE EXPANSION OF WASTEWATER DISPOSAL SYSTEMS IN EASTERN CONNECTICUT.

1426 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

16-Section 1. (Effective from passage) The Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection, in consultation with the Commissioner of Public Health and any applicable regional council of government, shall conduct a study on the need for expansion of wastewater disposal facilities and systems in eastern Connecticut. Such study shall include, but need not be limited to, the development of a master plan to identify and prioritize areas in eastern Connecticut that are in urgent need of such expansion and recommendations on ways in which such expansion can be achieved while easing the fiscal burden of such facilities on local municipalities in eastern Connecticut. Not later than February 1, 2016, the commissioner shall submit a report, in accordance with section 11-4a of the general statutes, to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the environment. Such report shall include, but not be limited to, any requisite legislation to facilitate the implementation of the recommendations developed pursuant to such study.
