1212 AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF THE BENEFITS PROVIDED PURSUANT TO THE TEMPORARY FAMILY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

1414 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

1616 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Commissioner of Social Services shall conduct a study of the temporary family assistance program, established under section 17b-112 of the general statutes. Such study shall determine the impact of (1) allowing a recipient of benefits under the program who accepts employment within the first twenty-one months of receiving benefits to continue to receive a benefit equivalent to the difference between such recipient's wages earned and one hundred and fifty per cent of the federal poverty level for a period not to exceed twelve months, and (2) providing a one-time payment of one thousand dollars to any former recipient of benefits under the program who was not employed during the period he or she received such benefits but thereafter accepts employment.

18-(b) Not later than January 1, 2017, the Commissioner of Social Services, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, shall report the results of the study conducted pursuant to subsection (a) of this section to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to labor, human services and appropriations and the budgets of state agencies.
