AN ACT PROHIBITING MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES FROM SERVING ON CERTAIN MUNICIPAL LEGISLATIVE BODIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That subsection (e) of section 7-421 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit a municipal employee from serving on any governmental body of a municipality if that body has the responsibilities and authority of a board of finance, unless such municipal employee is permitted to serve pursuant to the municipality's charter or home rule ordinance or serves because of membership on the legislative body of the municipality.
Statement of Purpose:
To prohibit municipal employees from serving on municipal legislative bodies that have the responsibility and authority of boards of finance, except where permitted by charter or home rule ordinance or where the employee serves because of membership on the legislative body of the municipality.
