AN ACT CONCERNING THE CREATION OF ONLINE SCHOOLS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 164 of the general statutes be amended to permit a local or regional board of education to create an online school to facilitate the delivery of education to students from across the state through the use of existing and future technologies to meet established educational practices and guidelines.

Statement of Purpose: 

To empower school districts by authorizing them to offer online courses, to promote innovation through the use of online courses for the benefit of students throughout the state and to create a blended brick-and-mortar school for fully online schools without the walls of a classroom.
