AN ACT CONCERNING THE ADULT INSTRUCTION PERMIT ISSUED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF MOTOR VEHICLES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subsection (b) of section 14-36 of the general statutes be amended to (1) require any person holding an adult instruction permit to complete ten hours, rather than eight hours, of a safe driving practice course prior to taking a test concerning motor vehicles and the rules of the road, and (2) permit the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to issue a motor vehicle operator's license to any person holding an adult instruction permit who has held such permit for at least forty-five days, rather than ninety days. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To require any person holding an adult instruction permit to complete ten hours of a safe driving practice course and permit such person to obtain a motor vehicle operator's license when he or she has held the adult instruction permit for at least forty-five days.
