AN ACT REQUIRING ATTORNEYS TO MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 876 of the general statutes be amended to require any attorney who actively practices law in the state to (1) maintain professional liability insurance, and (2) disclose the fact that he or she maintains professional liability insurance at the initial meeting with a prospective client.

Statement of Purpose: 

To protect clients from professional malpractice committed by attorneys.
