AN ACT PERMITTING A SCHOOL DISTRICT TO REDUCE ITS SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION SERVICES WHEN A PARENT OR STUDENT DRIVES TO SCHOOL.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 10-220 of the general statutes be amended to permit a local or regional board of education to reduce its school transportation services when the parent of a student or a student opts out of such transportation services, provided any such parent or student may resume such transportation services upon written notice to such board at least a week before such student resumes such transportation services.
Statement of Purpose:
To reduce school transportation costs by eliminating the requirement to have a seat on the bus for each potential student.
