AN ACT CONCERNING MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE POLICY QUOTES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2018) No insurance company that issues, renews, amends or endorses a private passenger motor vehicle liability insurance policy in this state on or after October 1, 2018, that uses an applicant's or insured's driving history as an underwriting or rating factor with respect to such policy, and no insurance producer who represents such an insurance company with respect to such policy, shall provide a quote to an applicant or an insured for the cost of coverage under such policy unless such quote accounts for the applicant's or insured's driving history and its impact on the cost of such policy.

 


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose: 

To require that insurance companies that issue, and insurance producers who represent insurance companies with respect to, private passenger motor vehicle liability insurance policies disclose the impact that an applicant's or insured's driving history has on the cost of such a policy when such company or producer issues a quote for the cost of coverage under such a policy.
