AN ACT REQUIRING PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANIES TO PROVIDE
NOTICE REGARDING MERGERS, ACQUISITIONS AND CHANGES TO
THEIR CORPORATE STRUCTURE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That title 16 of the general statutes be amended to require public 1
service companies that plan to engage in a merger, acquisition or 2
change to their corporate structure to: 3
(1) Not less than thirty days prior to the scheduled merger, 4
acquisition or change to corporate structure, provide notice of such 5
merger, acquisition or change to corporate structure to the legislators 6
and municipal leaders that represent each municipality in which such 7
public service company operates; and 8
(2) For a period of not less than thirty days prior to the scheduled 9
merger, acquisition or change to corporate structure, accept public 10
comments regarding such merger, acquisition or changes to corporate 11

Statement of Purpose:
To require public service companies to provide notice regarding
mergers, acquisitions and changes to their corporate structure.
