1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE AWARD OF ALIMONY IN A FAMILY
1919 RELATIONS MATTER.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That chapter 815j of the general statutes be amended to: (1) Require 1
2424 a court to (A) consider the tax consequences of any order entered when 2
2525 fixing the nature and value of any property to be assigned or when 3
2626 entering an alimony order, (B) consider the gross and net income of 4
2727 each of the parties when fixing the nature and value of any property to 5
2828 be assigned or when entering an alimony order, and (C) incorporate 6
2929 the financial terms of a decree of legal separation into the decree 7
3030 dissolving the marriage unless it would be unconscionable to do so, 8
3131 and (2) revise the burden of proof in certain cases involving a motion 9
3232 to modify the payment of periodic alimony when the party paying the 10
3333 periodic alimony has retired and attained the age of sixty-five or when 11
3434 the party receiving the periodic alimony is alleged to be living with 12
3535 another person in a marriage-like relationship. 13
3636 Statement of Purpose:
3737 To adopt recommendations made by the Law Revision Commission
3838 concerning the state's alimony statutes.
