	19	+	INCIDENTS INVOLVING JUVENILES WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM
	20	+	DISORDER AND NONVERBAL LEARNING DISORDER.
23	21		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
24	22		Assembly convened:

26		-	Section 1. (NEW) (Effective January 1, 2020) On and after January 1, 1
27		-	2020, each initial, review or refresher training program for firefighters 2
28		-	of a municipal, state or volunteer fire department or emergency 3
29		-	medical services personnel, as defined in section 20-206jj of the general 4
30		-	statutes, shall include a course on techniques for handling incidents, 5
31		-	such as wandering, that involve juveniles with autism spectrum 6
32		-	disorder or nonverbal learning disorder if the curriculum for such 7
33		-	techniques is made available at no cost to the training provider from 8
34		-	(1) institutions of higher education, health care professionals or 9
35		-	advocacy organizations that are concerned with juveniles with autism 10
36		-	spectrum disorder or nonverbal learning disorder, or (2) a 11
37		-	collaboration of such institutions, professionals or organizations. 12

43		-	This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following

	24	+	That the general statutes be amended to require all first responders 1
	25	+	to receive training regarding techniques for handling incidents, such as 2
	26	+	wandering, that involve juveniles with autism spectrum disorder and 3
	27	+	nonverbal learning disorder, provided the curriculum for such 4
	28	+	techniques is available at no cost from (1) institutions of higher 5
	29	+	education, health care professionals or advocacy organizations that are 6
	30	+	concerned with juveniles with autism spectrum disorder and 7
	31	+	nonverbal learning disorder, or (2) a collaboration of such institutions, 8
	32	+	professionals or organizations. 9
