23 | 23 | | Assembly convened: |

25 | 25 | | Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2019) (a) As used in this section, 1 |
---|
26 | 26 | | "background check" means an investigation of a prospective employee 2 |
---|
27 | 27 | | that includes, but is not limited to, (1) verification of such prospective 3 |
---|
28 | 28 | | employee's Social Security number, and (2) a review of (A) the abuse 4 |
---|
29 | 29 | | and neglect registry maintained by the Commissioner of Children and 5 |
---|
30 | 30 | | Families pursuant to section 17a-101k of the general statutes, (B) state 6 |
---|
31 | 31 | | and national sexual offender registry databases, (C) criminal 7 |
---|
32 | 32 | | conviction information obtained through a search of current criminal 8 |
---|
33 | 33 | | matters of public record in this state based on the prospective 9 |
---|
34 | 34 | | employee's name and date of birth, and (D) any other information that 10 |
---|
35 | 35 | | is necessary in order to evaluate the suitability of the prospective 11 |
---|
36 | 36 | | employee. 12 |

37 | 37 | | (b) Each person who conducts or maintains a youth camp, as 13 |
---|
38 | 38 | | defined in section 19a-420 of the general statutes, or such person's 14 |
---|
39 | 39 | | designee, shall require a prospective employee to submit to a 15 |
---|
