1818 AN ACT CONCERNING SAFE FIREARM STORAGE.
1919 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2020 Assembly convened:

2222 That sections 29-37i, 52-571g, 53a-217a and 10-18b of the general 1
2323 statutes be amended to provide that any firearm, whether loaded or 2
2424 unloaded, needs to be safely stored when a minor up to eighteen years 3
2525 of age, rather than sixteen years of age, may gain access to such 4
2626 firearm, that if a person fails to safely store a firearm, such person shall 5
2727 be strictly liable and criminally negligent in the case of an injury or 6
2828 death caused by a minor up to eighteen years of age, rather than 7
2929 sixteen years of age, and that the State Board of Education shall, rather 8
3030 than may, develop a firearm safety curriculum guide for students. 9
3131 Statement of Purpose:
3232 To keep children safe from gun violence, ensure greater responsibility
3333 by persons storing firearms and increase the opportunity for firearm
3434 safety education in public schools.
