AN ACT CONCERNING SAFE FIREARM STORAGE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:

That sections 29-37i, 52-571g, 53a-217a and 10-18b of the general 1
statutes be amended to provide that any firearm, whether loaded or 2
unloaded, needs to be safely stored when a minor up to eighteen years 3
of age, rather than sixteen years of age, may gain access to such 4
firearm, that if a person fails to safely store a firearm, such person shall 5
be strictly liable and criminally negligent in the case of an injury or 6
death caused by a minor up to eighteen years of age, rather than 7
sixteen years of age, and that the State Board of Education shall, rather 8
than may, develop a firearm safety curriculum guide for students. 9
Statement of Purpose:
To keep children safe from gun violence, ensure greater responsibility
by persons storing firearms and increase the opportunity for firearm
safety education in public schools.
