2020 AN ACT REQUIRING CERTAIN RECIPIENTS OF CASH ASSISTANCE
2121 TO UNDERGO TESTS FOR USE OF ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES.
2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require 1
2626 recipients of cash assistance programs administered by the 2
2727 Department of Social Services to (1) undergo tests for use of illegal 3
2828 substances if there is evidence supporting a reasonable suspicion such 4
2929 recipient is using such substances, (2) complete an education and 5
3030 treatment program if such recipient tests positive for use of such 6
3131 substances, and (3) be declared ineligible for cash assistance upon 7
3232 failure to complete a required education and treatment program or 8
3333 testing positive not less than three times for use of such substances. 9
3434 Statement of Purpose:
3535 To require periodic drug testing for certain cash assistance benefits.
