AN ACT REQUIRING CERTAIN RECIPIENTS OF CASH ASSISTANCE TO UNDERGO TESTS FOR USE OF ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require 1 recipients of cash assistance programs administered by the 2 Department of Social Services to (1) undergo tests for use of illegal 3 substances if there is evidence supporting a reasonable suspicion such 4 recipient is using such substances, (2) complete an education and 5 treatment program if such recipient tests positive for use of such 6 substances, and (3) be declared ineligible for cash assistance upon 7 failure to complete a required education and treatment program or 8 testing positive not less than three times for use of such substances. 9 Statement of Purpose: To require periodic drug testing for certain cash assistance benefits.
