23 | 23 | That section 47a-26b of the general statutes be amended to: (1) 1 | |
24 | 24 | Allow a court to make an initial determination as to the amount of 2 | |
25 | 25 | disputed rent payments that a tenant is required to make to a court 3 | |
26 | 26 | registry, and (2) permit a landlord, upon demonstrating to the court 4 | |
27 | 27 | that he or she is in actual danger of loss of the rental premises or 5 | |
28 | 28 | suffering other hardship resulting from the loss of rental income, to 6 | |
29 | 29 | seek full or partial disbursement of the disputed rent payments paid to 7 | |
30 | 30 | the court registry. 8 | |
31 | 31 | Statement of Purpose: | |
32 | 32 | To require that disputed rent payments in a landlord-tenant action be | |
33 | 33 | deposited with a court registry and to permit the court to disburse | |
34 | 34 | such payments, in whole or in part, to the landlord when the landlord | |
35 | 35 | demonstrates to the court that a hardship has been created as a result | |
36 | 36 | of the loss of rental income. |
