1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE APPOINTMENT OF A GUARDIAN AD
1919 LITEM IN A CHILD CUSTODY OR VISITATION CASE.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That section 46b-54 of the general statutes be amended to provide 1
2424 that the court shall not appoint a guardian ad litem in a child custody 2
2525 or visitation case unless the Department of Children and Families has 3
2626 confirmed through a formal investigatory process that the child has 4
2727 been abused or neglected. 5
2828 Statement of Purpose:
2929 To limit the use of guardians ad litem in child custody or visitation
3030 cases to those cases in which the Department of Children and Families
3131 has confirmed, through a formal investigatory process, that the child
3232 has been abused or neglected.
