AN ACT CONCERNING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR BACKGROUND 
CHECKS FOR STUDENT TEACHERS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 10-221d of the general statutes be amended to allow a 1 
candidate in a program of teacher preparation to submit to a single 2 
state and national criminal history records check, including 3 
fingerprinting, in a year for purposes of completing his or her student 4 
teaching experience requirement, and that such criminal history 5 
records check may be shared with multiple local and regional boards 6 
of education if such candidate completes such student teaching 7 
experience in multiple school districts during such year. 8 
Statement of Purpose:   
To allow a single background check in a year for student teachers and 
to allow such background check to be shared among multiple boards 
of education.
