AN ACT REQUIRING A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CONNECTICUT AND LOWER-COST STATES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management be 1 required to conduct a study of the following, that compares 2 Connecticut to states with lower overall costs, and to report the 3 findings of such study to the General Assembly: (1) The percentage of 4 residents who receive an earned income tax credit and the rate of such 5 credit in each state; (2) the number of municipal employees in each 6 state who receive federal benefits; (3) the number and total amount of 7 federal contracts awarded to each state; (4) the highway funding 8 mechanisms utilized by each state; (5) violent and nonviolent crime 9 rates in each state; and (6) student performance in each state. 10 Statement of Purpose: To require the Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management to conduct a study comparing Connecticut to states with lower overall costs.
