AN ACT ALLOWING A LANDLORD TO ENTER THE DWELLING UNIT 
OF A TENANT DURING THE PENDENCY OF A SUMMARY PROCESS 
ACTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING NECESSARY REPAIRS IN 
PREPARATION FOR A NEW TENANT. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 47a-16 of the general statutes be amended to provide 1 
that a landlord may enter the dwelling unit of a tenant during the 2 
pendency of a summary process action to recover possession of the 3 
dwelling unit for the purpose of making necessary repairs to the 4 
dwelling unit in preparation for a new tenant. 5 
Statement of Purpose:   
To permit a landlord to lawfully enter a rented dwelling unit during 
the pendency of a summary process action in order to make necessary 
repairs in preparation for a new tenant.
