LCO No. 5491 1 of 2 General Assembly Committee Bill No. 6093 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 5491 Referred to Committee on INSURANCE AND REAL ESTATE Introduced by: (INS) AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF THE AVAILABILITY OF HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE T O IMMIGRANTS IN THIS STATE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) (a) The Insurance 1 Commissioner shall conduct a study concerning the availability of 2 health insurance coverage to individuals in this state who are unable to 3 establish legal presence in the United States or present a valid Social 4 Security number. 5 (b) Not later than December 31, 2019, the commissioner shall submit 6 a report, in accordance with section 11-4a of the general statutes, on the 7 results of such study to the joint standing committee of the General 8 Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to insurance. 9 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage New section Committee Bill No. 6093 LCO No. 5491 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To require the Insurance Commissioner to study the availability of health insurance coverage to individuals in this state who are unable to establish legal presence in the United States or present a valid Social Security number.
