AN ACT CONCERNING UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 567 of the general statutes be amended to: (1) Increase 1 the claimant’s earnings threshold required to qualify for benefits from 2 six hundred dollars to three thousand dollars per year; (2) prohibit 3 individuals from receiving benefits during any period during which 4 they are receiving severance pay; (3) freeze the max imum 5 unemployment benefit rate in any year in which the Unemployment 6 Trust Fund is less than seventy per cent solvent; and (4) clarify the 7 definition of "day of unexcused absence" to mean one day. 8 Statement of Purpose: To update and reform unemployment compensation law and protect the solvency of the Unemployment Trust Fund.
