AN ACT CREATING A PROGRAM TO ALLOW MUNICIPALITIES TO
PURCHASE ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND GAS SUPPLY
SERVICES FOR ELECTRIC AND GAS CUSTOMERS WITHIN SUCH
MUNICIPALITIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to create a program that 1
authorizes municipalities to purchase, either on their own or with 2
other municipalities, electricity generation and gas supply services for 3
electric and gas customers within such municipalities, and such 4
program shall allow municipalities to request bids, set rates, contract 5
with suppliers and developers, administer funding of energy efficiency 6
measures and finance local renewable energy facilities to provide 7
municipally controlled electric and gas services to residents, businesses 8
and government customers within such municipalities. 9
Statement of Purpose:
To create a program to allow municipalities to purchase electricity
generation and gas supply services for electric and gas customers
within such municipalities.
