AN ACT REQUIRING REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR CERTAIN PERSONS LIVING WITH AN EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL AND ESTABLISHING PENALTIES FOR MISREPRESENTING THE STATUS OF SUCH ANIMAL. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) require that certain 1 housing providers provide reasonable accommodations for a person 2 with mental and emotional disabilities who lives with an emotional 3 support animal, as provided in the federal Fair Housing Act, 42 USC 4 Part 3604 et seq. and Title I of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 USC 5 701 et seq., each as amended from time to time, and any regulation 6 adopted thereunder, and (2) establish penalties for misrepresenting the 7 status of such animal. 8 Statement of Purpose: To (1) provide reasonable accommodations for certain persons with mental and emotional disabilities who live with an emotional support animal, and (2) establish penalties for misrepresenting the status of such animal.
