2019 AN ACT ALLOWING EMER GENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS TO
2120 ADMINISTER EPINEPHRINE WITHOUT THE USE O F AUTOMATIC

2322 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2625 Section 1. Section 19a-197a of the general statutes is repealed and 1
2726 the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2019): 2
2827 (a) As used in this section, "emergency medical technician" means 3
2928 (1) any class of emergency medical technician certified under 4
3029 regulations adopted pursuant to section 20-206oo, including, but not 5
3130 limited to, any advanced emergency medical technician, and (2) any 6
3231 paramedic licensed pursuant to section 20-206ll. 7
3332 (b) Any emergency medical technician who has been trained, in 8
3433 accordance with national standards recognized by the Commissioner 9
3534 of Public Health, in the administration of epinephrine [using automatic 10
3635 prefilled cartridge injectors or similar automatic injectable equipment] 11
3736 and who functions in accordance with written protocols and the 12
3837 standing orders of a licensed physician serving as an emergency 13
