1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC PAIN
1919 WITHOUT OPIOID DRUGS.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That section 20-14o of the general statutes be amended to (1) allow a 1
2424 prescribing practitioner to refer a patient to a chiropractor or a physical 2
2525 therapist in addition to or in place of issuing a prescription for an 3
2626 opioid drug, and (2) require the Department of Public Health to (A) 4
2727 establish guidelines for the use of evidence-based, nonpharmaceutical 5
2828 therapies to treat chronic pain that include, but are not limited to, 6
2929 chiropractic treatment and physical therapy, and (B) conduct 7
3030 educational and outreach activities to raise awareness of such 8
3131 guidelines. 9
3232 Statement of Purpose:
