LCO No. 2186 1 of 2 General Assembly Proposed Bill No. 6592 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 2186 Referred to Committee on AGING Introduced by: REP. TURCO, 27th Dist. SEN. LESSER, 9th Dist. REP. WOOD, 29th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING SENIOR CENTERS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to authorize (1) 1 establishment of multipurpose senior centers, (2) assistance to senior 2 center personnel and municipal agents for the elderly by the 3 Department of Rehabilitation Services, and (3) a state-wide senior 4 center work group including, but not limited to: (A) The 5 Commissioner of Rehabilitation Services, or the commissioner's 6 designee; (B) the Commissioner of Social Services, or the 7 commissioner's designee; (C) two representatives of the Connecticut 8 Association of Senior Center Personnel; (D) one representative of the 9 Connecticut Association of Municipal Agents for the Elderly; (E) one 10 representative of the Connecticut Local Administrators of Social 11 Services; (F) five representatives of senior centers, with one from each 12 of the five planning areas, as described in section 17a-304 of the 13 general statutes; (G) one representative from a nonprofit senior center; 14 and (H) one representative from a senior center that is accredited by 15 the National Institute of Senior Centers. 16 Proposed Bill No. 6592 LCO No. 2186 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To provide for the establishment of a multipurpose senior center and a senior center work group as well as assistance to senior centers and municipal services for aging persons.
